Technology Transfer Applications for Distributed Simulation Technologies

The eld of computer simulation has been advanced by the availability of distributed computer platforms and software architectures which take advantage of those platforms. A great deal of eeort has gone into the development of distributed simulation environments and object-oriented simulation in military applications. The maturation process of these technologies has reached the point where it is time to consider alternative applications. This paper focuses on identifying the available technology and the potential for technology transfer into other application areas such as business, entertainment, and education. The technology opens the door for simulations which previously were considered impractical, but now are on the verge of realization.
